Népdalok – Hungarian Folk Singing Concert

Authentic Hungarian folk songs and music from the wider Carpathian basin and Central Europe will be performed by the following artists:

 

Júlia Kubinyi (Hungary)

Ms Júlia Kubinyi is one of the most talented young artists in the new generation of folk-song singers in Hungary. She was awarded ‘Young Mater of Folk Arts’ – a Hungarian State award and was the only finalist singer in the ‘Peacock Has Taken Wings: Folk Song and Folk Dance Competition’ for young talents on Hungarian National Television in 2012.  In 2013, she was the Junior Prima award winner.  In 2015, her own singing work came to the forefront with her first solo recording: Magma járom – On my way.

 

The Hungarian FolkEmbassy (Hungary)

This professional folk band had been selected to the Cseh Tamás program from 200 bands in 2014. The Group’s founder, the Junior Prima award-winning fiddler, Mr Mihály Rosonczy-Kovács (second fiddle), was featured by La Femme Magazine, out of 1,300 nominees, as one of the 50 Talented Young People of 2013.  Mr András Soos (leading fiddler) was the winner of the National Fiddler Competition in 2009 and the Junior Prima award in 2011. Ms Luca Hegedüs is the only female folk dulcimer player in Hungary.

 

Two Hungarian folk dances will also be performed in the show.
