Congratulations to the Hong Kong musicians participating in the 9th International Liszt Ferenc Competition in Eger

The Consulate General of Hungary in Hong Kong warmly congratulates the Hong Kong and Macao musicians who participated in the 9th International Liszt Ferenc Competition, held in Eger, Hungary, from 31 July to 1 August 2026.

Eger hosted the international final of the 9th International Liszt Ferenc Competition, welcoming young talents from Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. This prestigious classical music competition was open to participants aged from six through to the adult age group competing in five categories. The three-day event featured masterclasses, competition performances, an orchestral gala concert and a Gala and Award Ceremony. At the gala concert, the outstanding young instrumentalists had the opportunity to perform their competition programmes with the Eger Symphony Orchestra. The Eszterházy Károly Catholic University’s Chapel was filled to capacity for the occasion. The participation of the Hong Kong musicians was a wonderful celebration of the strong cultural and musical connections between Hong Kong and Hungary. As part of the festival, violinist Ruda Lee and five other young musicians from Hong Kong performed concertos with the Eger Symphony Orchestra on 31 July.

We extend our warm congratulations to all the participating musicians and the organisers for the success of this important international event.

We would also like to express our appreciation to HKETO Berlin for its support of Ruda Lee’s participation in the festival.
